Sarah kept running, holding Chronos' hand in hers, almost literally dragging him along until they reached the waterfall. "This is where the mermaids were supposed to be, right?" she asked. She was clearly excited and a wide smile spread across her face. Of course if she were right about that, that would mean they were the first ones here which would actually be a surprise to her. After all mermaids were a pretty big deal. Well in her mind they were. But when she thought about it more they must be pretty normal here. Especially compared to some of the occurences she had seen.
She hugged her lover's arm, staying close to him and her face turned a bright pink. She loved being so close to him...

Chronos hugged Sarah tightly against him. He was eager to see more fantasy legends come to life, but even if he didn't he already had his fairytale princess by his side.
"Indeed. It should be around this area somewhere, though it's a bit quiet. Maybe it's still early or something."
A splash drew his attention just then and he looked around for it.
"I think....that's..." Chronos stuttered, pointing across the lake at the base of the Waterfall.
A beautiful lady was sitting there. She had long, flowing purple locks and was busy brushing them out. She winked over at Chronos, with a small giggle. Her bottom half, just barely sticking out of the water was all fish. Her upper torso was bare except for a shimmering pink, seashell bra.

At first, Sarah was amazed to see the mermaid and a big smile came across her face. But then her expression changed to an unamused one. Had the mermaid just winked at Chronos? ~That better not have been in a flirtatious manner~ she thought to herself as she clung tighter to Chronos as though trying to make clear the fact that he and she were a couple. Though maybe she was making it too clear as she was clinging awfully tight.

Chronos poked Sarah gently on the shoulder, a small sweatdrop forming on the back of his head.
"Um....Sarah-dear," He said, chuckling slightly in nervousness. "As much as I like our proximity, I can no longer feel my arm."
The Mermaid had, meanwhile, made it's way softly and silently over to the couple and was staring at them amusedly.

A deep blush came to Sarah's face as she loosened her grip a little, but still clinging to him some. "Oh! S-sorry, Chronos..." she stuttered, clearly quite embarrassed. She looked and saw the mermaid had come closer and was watching them. Sarah stared at the mermaid, wondering just what was so amusing. And she had forgotten how close she was standing to the edge of the water...

Another mermaid appeared just then, doing a back-flip and splashng the dry couple. Well, not dry anymore. This one had a red seashell bra. The first one whispered in her ear, pointing at the couple and they both started laughing. A melodiuos sound that sounded like the evening tide, a rainbow after a storm, and several seagulls on crack.
Though how many can truthfully say they've heard such?
Chronos laughed. "It's fine, dear girl. It just shows you care. Maybe i should be holding you tighter."

Sarah blushed deeply, but not because of what Chronos had just said. No this was more of an angry blush, likely at being splashed and because she had a feeling the mermaids might be making fun of Chronos and herself. It made her feel like it was school all over again. "I hate being wet," she muttered angrily. now releasing her grip on Chronos so she could move her wet hair out of her face, but at taking her grip off her love, she had made herself more susceptible to lose balance and as she moved her foot slightly she did in fact slip in the mud on the bank and land on her butt, now growing quite frustrated.

Chronos move quickly to help Sarah up off the ground. "Dear girl are you quite alright?" He asked? He noticed her bottom was dirty and began wiping it off, heedless of who was watching. The mermaids giggled again at this and then four more showed up. They then begin a few demonstrations of sychronized swimming to music coming out of nowhere and seemingly from the water itself. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5GaQzrM7is

Sarah blushed softly, coming back to her senses. "I'm fine..." she replied. "Thanks." She started blushing even more when Chronos went to brush the mud off of her bottom. "Chronos...." She became distracted by the sudden music and turned to look at the mermaids again who began performing to the music. "Wow, they're really good," she admitted, taking her mind off of the previous incidents. "I can't even swim at all, let alone do anything like that..."

Chronos finished up and looked over at the mermaids. He had to admit that theire performance seemed nearly flawless, without only one or two incidents in which a mermaid missed a step. Though they made it up so fluently that you almost didn't notice. "Makes you wonder how many years they've been doing this, no?" Then he noticed that the dance and song had changed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDQmNHV4knI

"Yeah, it does make you wonder," Sarah replied, noticing the change in music as well. But she soon began to feel a little strange... Something seemed off and she couldn't quite place it as she put a hand to her forehead. ~What's wrong with me?~ She thought to herself. But that was all she could think before she fell into the water with a splash.
At first glance it may have appeared she went under and knowing she couldn't swim it would seem she was likely drowning. Thats how it would seem anyway. But she soon emerged from the water and was floating in the air, her clothing gone but her body glowing so nothing could be seen. First her hair grew in length until it was halfway down her back and a starfish appeared holding her bangs back to the right. Next her legs merged together into a blue fish tail. And finally, a purple seashell bra appeared over her chest. Her eyes opened and she stopped glowing before falling back into the water and swimming back up in her new form. "W-what happened!?"

The mermaids had stopped the song and where staring at Sarah in wonder as her transformation took shape. When the glowing stopped and she fell back into the water, they cheered and began swimming around her in circles.
Now to say Chronos had been scared when Sarah had fallen into the water would be a vast understatement. Maybe terrified would be closer. But, when he witnessed her change with his own eyes he was just...........stunned. He looked at the mermaid that was his partner with a mix of awe, surprise, and a bit of horror as he had no idea what was going on.
"S..S...Sarah?!"

Sarah looked up at Chronos, wide-eyed and blushing. "Chronos, what just happened?" she asked, a bit of fear and surprise apparent in her voice. "Why can I swim? And why do I have a tail?" This didn't set right with her at all. Would she be able to change back or was she stuck like this? And if she could change back then how? If not then how would she leave the lake? And how would she get to be with Chronos anymore? All these questions raced through her mind one after the other and each one seemed to bring up even more questions. And the one thing that didn't seem to come was an answer.....

Chronos just shook his head in awe and a little fright.
"I.....don't know dear girl! I have no such learnings about any of this! Maybe......the mermaids are responsible?"
The mermaids were acting all innocent and not saying yay or nay to any of it.

"W-well if thats the case, maybe they know how I can change back?" She looked to the 'innocent' mermaids and thought she'd at least try. "Do any of you know how I can turn back into... Well... Me?" she asked. If it weren't for her desire to be with Chronos she probably wouldn't have cared either way about changing back. But now she couldn't stand the thought of being stuck in this lake, knowing he couldn't stay here with her forever.
